Welcome to the Food Rebel EATS blog! Where to start with food.

Hi.

I not so long ago deleted almost my entire website. That’s sort of how I am, if things aren’t flowing I need a fresh start so obviously I deleted everything :) I want this blog to be a place where you can find answers that will work for you. I named my blog Food Rebel EATS, the same name as my cookbook because here’s the thing:

Today, in the world, you are conditioned to not know how food works. In that, from when you were little, unless you had a naturally focused mama who made her own nut milk and fed you spirulina from toddler age, you likely went to schools, events, daycares, literally anywhere and were fed an American diet. That’s all wrong though.

So much is wrong about it. Like almost everything. And that’s why I’m blogging. To tell you how this actually works as much as I can, in one place on the Internet. On my website, and yes I’ll be on Instagram and You Tube but here you can come back again and again and look for answers. And if you can’t find them, please do comment below any blogs and I’ll tell you what I know. I’m a 5/1 profile in my human design so I like to know everything about everything I care about. And I deeply care about health, food and every human having the knowledge and information to get what you need so that you can live a happy healthy life in a body that feels like your own.

Food Rebel: someone who thinks for him/herself when it comes to food, and what you’re being ‘fed’ in terms of information by most of the world, the medical system, media, schools (I mean the food pyramid is whacked and school lunches are not giving you what you need for a vibrant healthy body.) You have to be ready to go first, and do things differently. You have to go out of your way to make sure you have real, whole plant based foods on hand, around you and plan so that you know where to find them when you travel. This is for anyone living anywhere besides Santa Monica or a city/town where it’s not normal to see a Pressed Juicery on the corners.

Here’s where we start:

All humans are designed to run mostly on plants. Zero exceptions to this. ZERO.

What this looks like in real life. Practically.

  • Every meal of the day, every time you want to eat something, take your mind here until it goes there by itself first: What can I eat that is made of plants?

  • Meals/Snacks are build AROUND mostly plants. Have you heard of the My Plate from the USDA? Your plate/bowl needs to be covered in plants. Any kinds. Dark leafy greens are a staple, then add loads of raw and or cooked (in very light or no oil) veggies. Then decide if you want any animal protein or plant proteins like quinoa, rice, etc

  • Protein and Fat are the problems. You don’t need to worry about getting enough protein, you need to worry about eating loads of plants. Plants ARE protein. And yes, you can have a burger, salmon, chicken but NOT eggs or pork. (new post on this coming)

  • Water. You are made of over 70% water. That means in order to be healthy and naturally regulated and constantly cleansing out toxins and waste (new post coming), you need to drink a lot of water. Drink it first thing in the morning, drink it before going to bed, and drink it IN BETWEEN meals, not with them. I aim for (4) of my 1 L BKR water bottles a day.

  • Processed foods are not what we eat to thrive. At any and every opportunity choose something real and whole instead. Choose a plain apple, choose baby carrots, choose a store bought green juice, choose a banana, choose celery and hummus, or organic turkey and veggies. SIMPLIFY.

  • Drop the soda, pop, soda pop. Coca Cola? Oh remember those red signs and trucks that used to be around…….? BYE. This is the FIRST habit change to make. It will literally change your life. Your body will be like OMG thank GOODNESS I don’t have to deal with that sh*t. Did you know that there is SO MUCH SUGAR in pop that your body would vomit instantly from it so they add phosphoric acid so that you don’t? Like there are so many things wrong with this. Drink more water. Drink Cure hydration(yes I have a code it’s Jodi20) or drink Zevias. You’ll be fine, actually more than fine.

  • Gratitude. Remember your body is running for you non-stop without your direction (beside the food information you are feeding it everyday). Be grateful. Appreciate your body every single day. Thank you body for digesting every single thing I eat every single day. Thank you body for eliminating toxins for me every single day. Thank you for giving me energy to live my life. Thank you for my breath, thank you for my eyes so that I can see the sun every morning, my family, my friends. I think we are so overlooking how much is going right every day and coming back to remembering our bodies are doing all of this most of the time without any recognition or thankfulness.

Today, just take in what kind of diet you’ve been feeding yourself. Your diet is just the foods you eat on repeat. Where could you make a difference? What first thing jumps out that you can take out, swap or add in? It’s that simple to get started. Do it for yourself and your precious body. We’ll move forward from here.
