The Energy Of A Smoothie

THE ENERGY OF DRINKING SMOOTHIES

Having a smoothie - it's a healthy vibe right?

It feels like smoothies have been around forever but I wonder if you know how very powerful they are and WHY> as always my nerd brain is here for your entertainment and education!

Not all smoothies are the same, hello 'Smoothie King'; airport smoothies and smoothies that contain ingredients that just don't go in what I call smoothies.

The point of a smoothie is to get really good nutrients into your blood and body in a very very simple and convenient way.

Here are a few common questions about smoothies that you want to get clear about first:

>>Do all smoothies need to be green to be healthy? Or is a green smoothie better than any other kind?

No. It doesn't have to be green. The reason they are often green is due to them containing GREENS. Greens can mean any kind of leafy green (lettuce or as Dalton calls them all because i eat so many: SALAD). Or it can be a green like spirulina or a greens powder which is typically a blend.

It's green because it can be. Because greens mix well with fruit and if you put something green with fruit it will turn green or BROWN lol.

Adding greens is energetically correct because of the correct food pairings (if you do it all the way the right way) and that means easy to digest.

It's also a great way to get greens into the body if you are a person who doesn't consume them a lot or often (at least not yet) or if you want to add them in for your partner/husband/kids.

>>What’s the most important ingredient of a smoothie?

FRUIT. FRUIT. FRUIT. FRUIT.

That is the answer. That’s really all there is to say about that.

Energetically fruit is the fastest to digest, and super super easy to break down which means yes easy on the gut, but also the perfect thing to break a fast. Get it: BREAKFAST. After fasting overnight which we all do unless you are pregnant and eat bread and butter cereal at midnight like I did.

>>Shouldn’t there be a good protein in your smoothie?

Actually no. Protein is not the focus of a smoothie. See above. Fruit is the focus of the smoothie. Protein is the hardest to digest and this of course depends on the SOURCE so spirulina (a green) is EASY to digest and works in smoothies but ‘protein’ as in from an animal is hard to break down. And you don’t have to have plant proteins in your smoothies although you can if you like to. Just make sure again they are PLANTS and not animals. No whey protein k?

>>What about all the specialty powders and things?

You don’t need those. You don’t have to add MORE to make it better. In fact with this and health it’s about less being more. Less ingredients, less things mixed together, simplify it and your body can take off.

So the ENERGY of a smoothie:

Energetically it’s easy to absorb because:

>>It’s blended. It’s physically broken up by your blender so your body has LESS digestive work to do which means it just gets the benefits of the nutrients.

>>It’s mostly fruit. Which is easy to take in and break down.

>>When properly combined: Fruits + Greens + Water + non-dairy milks or just water the body has an easy time getting it to the cells which is the whole entire point. And you get: ENERGY. Energy for cleansing. Energy for healing. Energy for running. Energy for chasing your toddler. Energy for running your business. Energy for your thoughts and mind.

As always it’s about making it easy for for your body to just work how it knows to work.

Make smoothies part of your LIFE. They are not a trend. They are not going anywhere. And they do not need yogurt, milk products or whey.

The End.

Here’s the smoothie I’m so into lately:

Frozen Organic Cherries + 1 tsp spirulina + Water + Ice + 1 banana (with spots) + Food Babe’s Vanilla protein powder

PS: let’s be real. I only put it in that glass for the picture, in real life it is WAY bigger!
