There are so many things you can do to help remedy the bugs that show up this time of year with germs and sickness that seem to float around in the air.

Dalton has caught a little bug again, a cough, fever, runny nose and these are the go-tos I've been using to battle it back.

I did take him to the dr just in case and she said he was looking like he was on the mend and to keep doing what we were doing. We love our dr, she thinks I'm normal to use essential oils etc.


THIEVES: basic anti-viral/bacterial the first one I grab when it feels like myself or someone is coming down with a cold or anything. I also always take this on airplanes and rub it in my hands and take deep breaths, and I have it in a spray bottle form and I literally spray it around the tray/seat and wipe it all down.

For Dalton: dilute the oils always in a carrier oil. I use jojoba or coconut.

A few drops in oil, rub on the bottoms of his feet about every hour or as often as I remember (this is when sick) not as often if just preventing.

PEPPERMINT: think digestion and headaches, this is a cooling oil as well.

We rub it (diluted) around his belly button as often as the thieves. When you are sick, your body is using energy to battle the intruders (also remember the immune system is mostly in your gut) so to enhance the digestive system, or soothe it, calm it, allow it to flow IS helping the healing process.

Applying it directly here helps influence this. This is another one you can use and rub on for gas/bloating/other stomach issues.

LAVENDER: calming, relaxing, also helps headaches, but when you don't feel well, getting the body and yourself to relax is KEY TO HEALING.

PEACE & CALMING is another great oil for THIS purpose and kids in general.

In order for healing to occur the body has to be enough into deep relaxation. This has to do with the central nervous system having space to allow healing. So when we are worked up, stressed, worried, not believing we can heal, etc that all prevents and limits our bodies faster healing mechanisms. This is why meditation is so helpful too.


To inhale these oils is very effective. My mom recommended diffusing RAVEN.

Raven essential oil blend is a cool, refreshing combination of Ravintsara, Peppermint, Eucalyptus Radiata, Lemon, and Wintergreen essential oils. A chilly, minty blend with sweet undertones, Raven creates a cooling sensation and provides a comforting aroma when applied topically to the chest and throat. Like an effervescent breeze through a grove of eucalyptus trees, Raven provides a refreshing aromatic experience when diffused or inhaled directly. The naturally occurring constituents eucalyptol, menthol, and methyl salicylate provide an invigorating and empowering experience, particularly before or after a workout or when winding down for the evening.

Eucalyptus you may know is good for breathing but alone is not recommended to be applied to babies.


Anti-viral/anti-fungal/anti-bacterial AND this is from a functional medicine dr: giving a dose of 1/2 tsp every three hours up to five times per day works as an antibiotic. (I've been giving Dalton 1/2 tsp) based off weight, if you are an adult you can likely use more.

We always always always have this on hand.

Spray it up your nose if you have a cold/allergies/sinus stuff, let it run back and then flow back out.

Spray it in your ears when congested, infected.

Spray it in your eyes for pink eye, infections, allergies

PS: this feels like nothing, it doesn't sting at all.

Spray in your mouth, or use as antibiotic
